It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jason Wayne McKenzie, age 48, who died on April 16, 2026. Jason was born on September 9, 1978, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Lydia McDonald and Morris McKenzie.
Jason was a vibrant and expressive individual whose energy and personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was known for his outspoken nature, his sharp sense of humor, and his ability to bring laughter and light into any room. Those who knew him will remember him as someone who lived authentically and with great passion.
A lifelong sports enthusiast and dedicated music lover, Jason had a special connection to rhythm and creativity. He especially enjoyed playing the drums, an outlet through which he expressed his individuality and spirit. Music was an important part of his life, reflecting his personality and his way of moving through the world in his own unique rhythm.
Jason dedicated many years of his professional life to C.O. Christian and Son Electric Company, where he was a valued and hardworking employee. His commitment and reliability were appreciated by colleagues and those who worked alongside him.
He is survived by his father, Morris McKenzie; stepmother, Wendy McKenzie; mother, Lydia McDonald; grandmother, Sue Patterson; sister, Taylor; and stepsister, Shannon Durham, along with extended family members who will cherish his memory.
Jason’s presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, spirit, and personality will remain a lasting memory in the hearts of those he touched.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Bond Memorial Chapel, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
