Braxton Edward Canterberry, age 20, of Brilliant, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, friendship, and quiet strength that touched all who knew him. Born on March 7, 2006, in Winfield, Braxton was the beloved son of Brandy Osmer Mitchell and the late Brent Canterberry, and the cherished grandson of Edward and Joan Canterberry and Michael Osmer. His life, though far too short, was filled with purpose, compassion, and a deep connection to his family and community.
A proud 2024 graduate of Brilliant High School, Braxton distinguished himself both on and off the field. As a dedicated member of the Tigers football and baseball teams, he demonstrated teamwork, discipline, and determination. He was equally committed to his faith, serving as an active member of Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church and participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. These communities reflected the values he carried with him each day—kindness, humility, and a willingness to uplift others.
Braxton also spent time working with TRU Homes in Lynn, where he was known for his strong work ethic and respectful nature. Outside of his responsibilities, he found his greatest joy in the company of family and friends, building bonds that will endure in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his loving mother, Brandy Mitchell; his grandparents; his half-sister, Ariel Mitchell; and many extended family members and close friends, including Kason and John Pool, who were like brothers to him. He was preceded in death by his father, Brent Canterberry; his uncle, Trent Canterberry; and his grandparents, Kathy Osmer and Claude and Frances Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Brilliant Memorial Gardens. In honor of Braxton’s life and faith, the family kindly requests donations to Manna From Heaven Ministry in lieu of flowers.
Braxton will be remembered for his warm spirit, his unwavering faith, and the love he shared so freely. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
