DeMarquis Gilbert Bassett, VA Death-Obituary: In Loving Memory of DeMarquis Gilbert

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of DeMarquis Gilbert, 34, of Bassett, Virginia, who passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026. During this difficult time, may those who mourn his loss find comfort in the support of family, friends, and the many meaningful memories he leaves behind. His life, though cut short, was one marked by connection, faith, and a genuine appreciation for the people around him.

Born on October 1, 1991, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Trevor Shelton and Cindra Fuller, DeMarquis grew up with strong ties to his community. He was a graduate of Martinsville High School and attended Refuge Temple Ministries, where his faith remained an important part of his life. He had a love for travel and enjoyed watching football, proudly supporting the Indianapolis Colts. Above all, he valued time spent with his family, maintaining close relationships that meant a great deal to him.

DeMarquis will be remembered for his presence, his interests, and the care he showed to those around him. His legacy lives on through his parents; his sister, Kemonie Bruce; his brothers, Anthony Gilbert (Antoinette), Ralph Price, Devin Stockton, Ron Fuller (Kristen), Trejon Fuller, and Markene Williams; his stepfather, Ralph Fuller, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Refuge Temple Ministries, with Bishop Alan Preston officiating. Interment will follow at Trotter Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
