It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of one of our valued staff members, Mr. Steve Cox, who died early this morning.
After careful consideration and in coordination with the district’s psychology team, we have begun informing Mr. Cox’s classes directly so that students receive this difficult news in a supportive and compassionate environment. It was important to us that our school community hear this information from trusted staff members rather than external sources.
Our faculty and staff have been notified and are receiving appropriate support as we navigate this loss together. Additional resources are being made available to assist students as they process this news in the days ahead. We recognize that Mr. Cox’s passing will deeply affect many within our school community, and we are committed to ensuring that everyone has access to care, guidance, and understanding during this time.
We kindly ask that the privacy of Mr. Cox’s family and loved ones be respected as they grieve this profound loss. Our thoughts are with them, and we extend our sincere condolences during this incredibly difficult period.
Mr. Cox, known affectionately to many as “Coach Cox,” will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to students and his deep commitment to education and mentorship. He brought passion and creativity to his work in the arts and ceramics, inspiring countless students through his teaching. In addition, his many years of service as a coach in football and wrestling reflected his belief in discipline, teamwork, and personal growth.
His impact on Bullard High School extended far beyond the classroom and athletic field. He was a mentor, a role model, and a steady source of encouragement to students and colleagues alike. His legacy will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.
We will always remember Steve Cox with gratitude, respect, and appreciation for the lasting difference he made in our school community.
