Officer Hicks was the 16th CCPD officer killed in the line of duty while serving and protecting the City of Corpus Christi. His service reflects the highest ideals of law enforcement—bravery, commitment, and an unwavering dedication to protecting others, even in the face of grave danger.
On April 20, 2024, Officer Hicks and his partner responded to a domestic disturbance in the 5400 block of Burnham Drive. Upon arrival, they encountered an active disturbance inside an apartment. When the male suspect came to the door, a violent struggle ensued, during which Officer Hicks was shot. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he fought for his life for four days before succumbing to his injuries on April 24, 2024.
In an extraordinary final act of service, Officer Hicks gave the gift of life through organ donation, saving five individuals and leaving a legacy of compassion that continues beyond his passing. His heroism did not end in the line of duty—it extended into lives he saved even after his final breath.
Officer Hicks served the Corpus Christi Police Department for two years. He was 32 years old and is survived by his loving wife and four children. His memory remains a source of strength and pride within the department and the community he faithfully served.
